Summers are time for the blossoming of the Flame of the Forest. Peacocks abound in the plentiful in Ranthambore, and, are beautiful subjects to frame especially the males with their plumage. Peahens are not so photogenic. On this occasion, on a late summer evening, as the sun was setting behind the towering rock faces of the Aravallis, I saw an ostentation [a group] of peahens, no peacocks, merrily feeding on the ground beneath some flowering Flames, a regular scene in the forests of India. A few minutes later, the peahens flew into the trees above. I really didn’t think too much about the scene initially, but as they meandered into a narrow opening between the trees, I felt the scene dramatically change, allowing me to capture a magical moment in the form of a peahen framed by the red mist.
